Product Description

Product Description:

Heat-shrinkable materials are composed of an external backing and an internal adhesive. The backing is made of polyolefin that has been extruded and cross-linked. The adhesive is made of thermoplastic materials. When the backing is heated, it shrinks and instils a level of circumferential compression. This compression supplements the bonding of the sleeve to the pipe joint’s surface.

Heat-shrinkable sleeves are a field-joint coating system that is known for its toughness. It is one of the toughest coating systems that can be applied in the field. The coating system consists of three layers – solvent-free high-performance epoxy, an adhesive base copolymer, and modified cross-linked polyethylene. This system is designed to replicate the structure and meet the performance of mil-applied three-layer PE coatings.

The coatings used in this system are compatible with all commonly used pipe coatings, including polyethylene, coal tar enamel, and fusion-bonded epoxy. This makes it a versatile option for a wide range of pipe joints.

Features:

Multi-Functional Adhesive for Lower Installation temperature and Corrosion Protection

If you are looking for an excellent adhesive that can provide you with a lower installation temperature and bonding to 3LPE/DFBE/FBE/CTE, then you should try our multi-functional adhesive.

This adhesive is perfect for resisting the shear forces induced by soil and thermal movements. It also offers superior protection against cathodic disbondment, hot water immersion, and thermal aging. This makes it the optimal barrier for long-term corrosion protection.

With this adhesive, you can reduce your time and cost by lowering the pre-heat temperature and applying a wet epoxy primer. This multi-functional adhesive is all you need for efficient and cost-effective installation with protection against corrosion.

Applications:

For additional details, please refer to the instructions for use.

Prior to application, it is important to mix the two components of the epoxy primer thoroughly. The application should be done at a minimum thickness of 150 µm and covering at least 10 mm of the adjacent coating. It is important to note that you should never mix more primer than can be applied during the pot life.

While the epoxy is still wet, the sleeve should be applied. Before application, the adhesive should be heated. Once the sleeve is wrapped, the closure patch must be heated and applied. The entire sleeve should be heat-shrunk to fit tightly around the joint.

The post-heating process is necessary to soften the sleeve and help remove any trapped air.
